How To Touch Up a Chipped Sink or Tub

Accidents happen, and sometimes these accidents result in your sink or bathtub showing off an ugly chip or two. Luckily, these blemishes are easily and inexpensively fixed!

You can easily use epoxy to fix the chip, however before you attempt to apply anything to the area, give it a good scrub with a sponge and soapy water. Then take 400-600 grit wet and dry sandpaper over the area. We do this not just to ensure we’ve removed all dirt and rust, but also to rough the chip up enough that the epoxy will stick to the distressed area.

After you’ve mixed your epoxy to color match, simply dab the epoxy in to fill the tiny hole. If you’re lucky enough to have a deep hole, apply the epoxy in several layers, making sure you follow the drying time on the label. Once you’ve finished with your repair, wait 24 hours before you use the sink/bathtub again, and don’t attempt to scrub the area until after at least a week.

Chips aren’t the end of the world, and you can take care of this common household problem with ease on your own! Just make sure you allow the necessary drying time, and your sink or tub will be good as new!
